Association between bipolar disorder and subsequent traumatic brain injury in patients who received inpatient treatment

Huang MF, et al. - Researchers undertook this nationwide cohort study to compare the risk of traumatic brain injury in patients with and without bipolar disorder. In this study, patients with bipolar disorder, recurrent hospitalization and multiple psychotropic use were at higher risk of traumatic brain injury. Age could modify the risk of traumatic brain injury. A higher risk was observed in middle-aged patients.
