Harris D, et al. - The association between anxiety symptoms and sleeping medication use among a nationally representative sample of US older adults was explored in this study. The researchers found a significant association between anxiety symptoms with sleeping medication use among US older adults. Moreover, they noted that depressive symptoms, chronic conditions, and worse self-rated health were correlated with sleeping medication use. For treating anxiety symptoms among older patients, these outcomes had clinical implications, as sleeping medications were associated with adverse health events.
