Association between antiphospholipid antibodies and factor Bb in lupus nephritis patients with glomerular microthrombosis
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Nov 29, 2019
Zhou Y, et al. - Individuals with biopsy-proven lupus nephritis (LN) hospitalized from July 2015 to July 2018 in a hospital were chosen for this study in order to investigate the association between antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) and factor Bb in individuals with LN with glomerular microthrombosis (GMT). Twenty-five LN persons with GMT and 76 LN people without GMT were involved in this study. In LN persons with GMT vs those without GMT, the presence of anti-β2GPI, lupus anticoagulant, and the level of factor Bb were both significantly greater. In the correlation analysis, the Bb level was positively related to serum creatinine, activity index GMT and IgG-anti-β2GPI. Thus, this study implies that aPLs, particularly IgG-anti-β2GPI, might play a part in the progress of GMT, and this process may include alternative complement activation.
