Association between allergic rhinitis-related factors and sleep duration in adolescents: Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey V (2010–2012)
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Jan 18, 2021
Lee K, Choi IH, Hong Y, et al. - By utilizing data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey participants, researchers sought to determine whether inappropriate sleep duration is correlated with each allergic rhinitis (AR)-related subjective/objective factor among Korean adolescents (n = 1936, aged between 12 and 18 years). The inappropriate sleep duration group, vs the control group, was found to have a higher prevalence of AR (23.68%). A positive link with inappropriate sleep duration in men was demonstrated by the presence of endoscopic findings of AR. Overall, findings revealed that Korean adolescents had increased prevalence of AR in relation to inappropriate sleep duration. Particularly, this link was relevant in nasal endoscopic findings in men.
