Assisted reproductive technologies and the risk of stillbirth in singleton pregnancies: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Fertility and Sterility May 23, 2021
Sarmon KG, Eliasen T, Knudsen UB, et al. - Researchers investigated the risk of stillbirth from in vitro types of assisted reproductive technologies vs spontaneous conception, limited to singleton births. They explored PubMed, Embase, and Scopus to identify singleton pregnancies from in vitro fertilization (IVF) or fertilization by IVF and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF-ICSI). They involved 19 studies herein, and ten studies met inclusion criteria for meta-analysis. Findings revealed an increased risk of stillbirth in relation to in vitro fertilization and IVF-ICSI treatment, vs natural conception.
