Assisted reproductive technologies and the risk of congenital urogenital tract malformations: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Pediatric Urology Nov 09, 2020
Zhang ZC, Liu X, Wei C, et al. - Researchers conducted a systematic review to assess the association between assisted reproductive technology (ART) and the risk of urogenital tract malformations, particularly hypospadias and cryptorchidism. A total of 33 papers were selected. Evidence showed that ART is correlated with an elevated risk of urogenital tract malformations in offspring, particularly hypospadias and cryptorchidism. The results considered that multiple pregnancies may lead to a higher risk of urogenital tract malformations than singleton pregnancies among ART offspring, but more research is required for confirmation.
