Assessment of two screening tools to identify psoriatic arthritis in patients with psoriasis

Coates LC, et al. - Given the low specificity of many psoriatic arthritis (PsA) screening tools, a new instrument, the CONTEST questionnaire, was developed utilizing the most discriminative items from existing instruments and was compared with PEST screening tools in psoriasis patients. This study involved the people attending secondary care clinics with psoriasis, but not PsA, who completed the questionnaires, were assessed for function and quality of life and had a physical examination. Findings suggested equally well performance of PEST and CONTEST questionnaires, and the new CONTEST tool was not seen to be superior.
