Assessment of the effectiveness of the vaginal contrast media in MRI for detection of pelvic pathologies: A meta-analysis
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography May 19, 2020
Unlu E, Virarkar M, Rao S, et al. - The present study was carried out to assess the efficacy of vaginal contrast media in MRI for improving the detection of pelvic pathologies. Researchers carried out to search PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Science Citation Index, and Cochrane Library databases through March 2019 for studies of the accuracy of MRI applying vaginal contrast media in the diagnosis and staging of pelvic pathologies. This meta-analysis included four eligible studies including a sum of 120 patients. They pooled sensitivity rates and relative risk for MRI, before and after vaginal contrast medium administration, and ascertained their 95% confidence intervals. The evidence showed that usage of vaginal contrast media improved the diagnostic ability of MRI in distinguishing pelvic pathologies.
