Haisley KR, et al. - The researchers evaluated the routine esophagram for the detection of an anastomotic leak following esophagectomy in subjects esophageal cancer, which is increasingly common and highly morbid. Anastomotic leaks following esophagectomy could be disastrous complications with high clinical costs. If detected early, luckily, small leaks could frequently be managed successfully with conservative approaches. Esophagrams are commonly used to recognize leaks former to beginning oral consumption postoperatively, however, the value of this test persisted to be questionable.
