Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Aug 19, 2017
Hernandez–Palazon J, et al. – In this current study, preoperative anxiety in patients scheduled for cardiac surgery was estimated. Potential clinical modifiers and link between anxiety and postoperative morbidity were also investigated. As per findings, both fear of the unknown and lack of information, especially related to the surgery, was essentially responsible for high levels of preoperative anxiety in patients scheduled for cardiac surgery. Coronary bypass surgery was recognized as a determining factor for preoperative anxiety. Postoperative course in these patients remained uninfluenced by the anxiety level.
