Assessment of ovarian reserve using serum anti-mullerian hormone after ovarian torsion surgery
Pediatrics International May 23, 2019
Oskayli MC, et al. - This study was conducted on children over 10 years of age who were operated on for unilateral ovarian torsion and oophorectomy to assess ovarian reserve using serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH). A total of ten patients had ovarian detorsion and seven had oophorectomy. The presence of follicles in preserved ovaries following detorsion has been reported previously. AMH serum level is valuable in evaluating the quantitative aspects of ovarian reserve; AMH is expressed in granulosa cells of growing follicles. Preserving the ovary in children with torsion is warrented in terms of future ovarian reserve.
