Assessment of health-related quality of life and psychological well-being of children and adolescents with obesity enrolled in a New Zealand community-based intervention programme: An observational study
BMJ Open Aug 18, 2017
Anderson YC, et al. – The health–related quality of life (HRQOL) and psychological well–being of children and adolescents were elucidated, in a multidisciplinary community–based obesity programme. It also aimed at identifying the association with ethnicity. Children and adolescents with obesity reported a low HRQOL, and a concerning level of psychological difficulties, regardless of the ethnicity. Obesity itself rather than ethnicity or deprivation contributed to lower HRQOL scores. The significance of psychologist involvement in obesity intervention programmes was underscored in this trial.
