Assessment of explicitly stated interval change on non-contrast head CT radiology reports
American Journal of Neuroradiology Jul 14, 2019
Braileanu M, et al. - Via 200 patients with 230 reports and 979 radiographic findings were recruited for a retrospective review conducted on successive non-contrast head CT radiology reports from the first 2 weeks of January 2014, the researchers intended to evaluate explicitly stated interval alteration of different findings in non-contrast head CT reports. For all findings, interval change was declared as 67.3% of the time. Explicitly stated interval change was markedly correlated with nonremote findings and generalized statements of interval change. For soft-tissue/osseous categorizations, the proportion of interval change recorded ranged from 95.3% of the time for hemorrhagic to 36.4%. Hence, interval change reporting was unsteady, mentioned for 67.3% of non-contrast head CT report findings with a previous comparison CT scan. Moreover, for certain findings, structured radiology reports could enhance the consistent and clear reporting of interval change.
