Assessment of efficacy of two chlorhexidine mouthrinses on oral hygiene and gingival health in adolescents wearing two types of orthodontic brackets

Jurisic S, et al. - Experts probed the effectiveness of 2 formulations of chlorhexidine 0.2% (CHX) mouthrinses (alcohol-free CHX and CHX with antidiscoloration system (CHX-ADS)) in terms of oral hygiene and gingival health status in adolescents with fixed orthodontic appliances wearing 2 different types of brackets (metal-stainless steel and ceramic) during 18 weeks. They randomly divided 80 subjects into 2 equal groups according to brackets type. Findings demonstrated that improved gingival status resulted with the ceramic brackets as well as usage of CHX-ADS.
