Assessment of diffusion tensor imaging in differentiation between pyogenic and tuberculous spondylitis
European Journal of Radiology Apr 19, 2021
Abdel Razek AAK, et al. - This study was conducted to investigate diffusion tensor imaging (DTI); an emerging technique for differentiation between pyogenic and tuberculous spondylitis. Researchers examined 33 patients with infective spondylitis performing conventional MRI and DTI. Via two readers, the mean diffusivity and fractional anisotropy of the affected vertebral body were estimated. This study’s findings demonstrate that DTI with its parameters can be considered a noninvasive beneficial quantitative method that can help in the differentiation between pyogenic and tuberculous spondylitis.
