Assessment of changes in biophysical parameters by dermocosmetic emulgel loaded with Cinnamomum tamala extract: A split-faced and placebo-controlled study

Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Nov 11, 2019

Arshad W, et al. - Given that phenolic and flavonoid compounds found in plants alleviate the photo-damaging skin conditions by playing a major role in skin rejuvenation, researchers analyzed the cosmeceutical impacts of Cinnamomum tamala extract. By using ELISA assay, phenols and flavonoids in C tamala extract were quantified. Data reported that total phenolic content and total flavonoids content of C tamala leaves extract was 73.08 ± 0.0078 mg GAE/g and 52.63 ± 0.0060 mg QE/g C tamala extract respectively. According to this split-faced and placebo-controlled study, C tamala leaves extract, being a rich source of phenols and flavonoids reduced the photo-damaging impacts by decreasing skin melanin, erythema, and excess sebum; enhancing the skin imperfections by decreasing facial pore count and area as measured by advanced imaging and bioengineering techniques.
