Assessing telephone-delivered cognitive–behavioural therapy (CBT) and web-delivered CBT vs treatment as usual in irritable bowel syndrome (ACTIB): A multicentre randomised trial

Gut Aug 14, 2019

Everitt HA, Landau S, O’Reilly G, et al. - In this multicentre randomised trial, researchers assessed the clinical efficacy of two cognitive–behavioural therapy (CBT) modes for IBS compared with treatment as usual (TAU) in refractory IBS. Candidates were adults with refractory IBS (clinically significant symptoms for ≥ 12 months despite first-line therapies), enlisted by letter and opportunistically from 74 general practices and three gastroenterology centres in London and South of England between May 2014 to March 2016. According to findings, both CBT procedures were up to 12 months of follow-up superior to TAU. There have been no severe adverse treatment reactions.
