Aspirin use is associated with a reduced risk of cholangiocarcinoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Cancer Management and Research Oct 09, 2018
Xiong JP, et al. - Researchers investigated whether aspirin use can decrease the risk of cholangiocarcinoma (CCC). For this purpose, they analyzed relevant studies published before October 2017 in PubMed, EMBASE, and ISI Web of Science. Using random-effects model, pooled ORs and corresponding 95% CIs were calculated. To confirm the stability of the outcomes, subgroup and sensitivity analyses were performed. This study included 9 articles, with 12,535 CCC patients and 92,97,450 healthy controls. A significant 31% lower risk of CCC, especially for intrahepatic CCC, was noted in relation with administration of aspirin.
