Aspirin in coronary artery surgery: One-year results of the ATACAS trial
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Oct 05, 2018
Myles PS, et al. - Considering the possibility that aspirin reduces the risk of vascular graft thrombosis following cardiovascular surgery, researchers reported 1-year outcomes of a trial evaluating aspirin before coronary artery surgery with regard to late thrombotic events and disability-free survival. Using a factorial design, patients undergoing coronary artery surgery were randomly assigned to receive aspirin or placebo and tranexamic acid or placebo. As per outcomes, no reduction in death, severe disability, or thrombotic events following surgery through 1 year was seen with preoperative aspirin use in these patients.
