Arthroscopy vs open arthrotomy for treatment of native hip septic arthritis: An analysis of 30-day complications
Arthroscopy Nov 22, 2019
Khazi ZM, et al. - Individuals who underwent hip arthrotomy or arthroscopy for native hip septic arthritis (SA) between 2007 and 2017 were questioned in the Humana database via the PearlDiver research tool in order to assess variations in short-term complications in persons treated with open arthrotomy or arthroscopy for SA of the native hip and classify risk factors related to return to the operating room (ROR). A total of 421 individuals with SA of the native hip, of whom 387 and 34 were treated with open arthrotomy and arthroscopy, respectively. Irrespective of open arthrotomy or arthroscopic management, comparable short-term complication rates and ROR were noted in individuals with SA of the hip, implying that arthroscopic management could be a reliable choice for the treatment of SA of the hip with possibly limited morbidity.
