Arthroscopic débridement of irreparable rotator cuff tears: Predictors of failure and success
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Oct 29, 2019
Ho JC, et al. - All individuals between 2008 and 2013 who underwent arthroscopic débridement for an irreparable rotator cuff tears (RCT) were included in order to investigate the mid-term outcomes and failure rates of arthroscopic débridement for irreparable RCTs and recognize risk factors related to failure and poor outcomes. Twenty-six individuals were involved. For irreparable RCT, arthroscopic débridement exhibited superior mid-term success along with betterments in patient-reported outcome scores and pain. The cost-efficiency of more expensive procedures should be acknowledged relative to these prosperous outcomes. Moreover, poor preoperative forward rise seemed to be a negative predictor of outcome and when showing individuals for this procedure, should be recognized cautiously.
