Allegra F, El Boustany S, Cerza F, et al. - This study was undertaken to present middle term outcomes of arthroscopic reconstruction of the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) applying a free autologous ipsilateral gracilis graft in patients with chronic ankle instability. Researchers included 11 patients with chronic lateral ankle instability with imaging evidence of isolated ATFL tear who had undergone arthroscopic reconstruction of the ATFL applying a free ipsilateral gracilis graft. They conducted functional and subjective assessment after an average of 24 months following the index procedure. The data reveal that arthroscopic isolated reconstruction of the ATFL with a free ipsilateral gracilis grafts was found to bee safe, allowing restoration of joint stability and low surgical morbidity.
