Aquarobic exercises improve the serum blood irisin and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in elderly women

Experimental Gerontology Feb 16, 2018

Kim JH, et al. - The efficacy of aquarobic exercises in preventing and delaying degenerative brain diseases in elderly women was investigated herein. Serum irisin and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels were measured among elderly women who underwent a 16-week aquarobic exercise program. Improved serum irisin and BDNF levels observed in the exercise group suggested that aquarobic exercises could be effective in preventing degenerative brain diseases and enhancing brain function of elderly women.
