Aquaporin3 expression and the potential role of aquaporins in motility and mitochondrial membrane potential in human spermatozoa
Andrologia Apr 23, 2020
Alyasin A, et al. - In this research, the expression of aquaporin3 was evaluated and the role of aquaporins in human sperm motility and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) was ascertained. Researchers carried out RT‐PCR and flow cytometry analysis to evaluate aquaporin3 expression levels, and immunolocalisation of aquaporin3 in the spermatozoa was diagnosed using immunocytochemical analysis. They classified sperm suspension into four groups of spermatozoa: Spermatozoa at 0 hr, spermatozoa in control group, spermatozoa treated with HgCl2 (as an aquaporin inhibitor) and spermatozoa treated with HgCl2+ and 2‐mercaptoethanol. The outcomes of this research exhibited that the expression and immunolocalisation of AQP3 in human spermatozoa and the potential role of AQPs in the sperm motility and MMP.
