Application of R2* and apparent diffusion coefficient in estimating tumor grade and T category of bladder cancer
American Journal of Roentgenology Nov 10, 2019
Wang Y, Shen Y, Hu X, et al. - In this prospective study, 58 people with pathologically verified bladder cancers underwent pretreatment T2*-weighted imaging and DWI on a 3-T MRI unit in order to contrast the feasibility of R2* and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) for distinguishing tumor grade and T category of bladder cancer. Between low and high-grade bladder cancers, important variations were discovered in R2* and ADC. In muscle-invasive bladder cancers (MIBCs) vs non-MIBCs, R2* was notably higher and ADC was significantly lower. Thus, in addition to ADC, for tumor characterization of bladder cancer, R2* could be utilized as a quantitative imaging biomarker to give supplementary information.
