Application of postoperative autotransfusion in total joint arthroplasty reduces allogeneic blood requirements: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders | Sep 09, 2017
Ji W, et al. - This study assessed postoperative autotransfusion as a strategy to attenuate allogeneic blood transfusion (ABT) requirement after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA). As per the evidence, autotransfusion attenuates the need for ABT following TKA and THA, compared to regular drainage, although no reduction was obvious when autotransfusion was compared to no drainage.
