Apolipoprotein C–III and high-density lipoprotein subspecies defined by apolipoprotein C–III in relation to diabetes risk
American Journal of Epidemiology Aug 12, 2017
Aroner SA, et al. – This current study was designed to assess the associations of plasma concentrations of apolipoprotein C-III (apoC-III) and subspecies of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) defined by the presence or absence of apoC–III with risk of diabetes. Findings demonstrated that for diabetes, ApoC–III itself represents a strong risk marker. Moreover, it may impair the antidiabetogenic properties of HDL due to its presence on HDL. ApoC–III represents a potential therapeutic target for diabetes prevention.
