Apgar score in premature infants associated with neonatal death prediction
The Journal of Pediatrics Oct 31, 2020
Zaigham M, et al. - Researchers investigated the correlation of the Apgar resuscitation score with risk of death among premature infants via performed secondary analysis of the Swedish Medical Birth Register. They identified 113,300 infants born prematurely (22 weeks-36 weeks 6 days of gestation); among these, 1,986 deaths were recorded. Observations revealed a higher risk of death in correlation with lower Apgar scores. Improved Apgar scores at 10 minutes were noted to be linked with lower neonatal mortality.
