Aortitis in giant cell arteritis: Diagnosis with FDG PET/CT and agreement with CT angiography
Autoimmunity Reviews Feb 01, 2018
Hommada M, et al. - The authors aimed at assessing the detection rate of aortitis in giant cell arteritis (GCA) with fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET). In addition, they compared the findings with CT angiography (CTA). In GCA patients, the detection rate of aortitis using PET was 40%, approximately in the range of CTA rates. This indicated similar sensitivity of the two techniques. In relapsing GCA, PET appeared valuable, allowing the detection of vascular and articular activities.
