Antiviral therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis C-related hepatocellular carcinoma responding to palliative treatment
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Jun 13, 2018
Yu JH, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, the researchers evaluated prognostic factors for survival in hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients that benefitted from palliative HCC treatment to assess if treating HCV would be beneficial in these patients. They involved the medical records of 97 patients that showed a complete or partial response to the initial HCC treatment. The findings from the present study suggested that HCV-related HCC patients that responded to the initial HCC palliative treatment could benefit from HCV treatment via increased survival and longer time to progression.
