Journal of Arthroplasty Nov 10, 2017
Campbell ST, et al. - In view of the observed interaction between Chlorhexidine (CHX) and DakinÂs solution (NaOCl), forming a precipitate, in the clinical setting, this work was implemented, wherein, researchers tried to determine if this reaction could be replicated in a laboratory setting and if other commonly used antiseptics also visibly react when mixed. Findings necessitated awareness on surgeons' end, with respect to these interactions, when using antiseptic solutions during procedures. Furthermore, they were advised to exercise caution when combining or mixing antiseptics. Researchers recommended against concomitant introduction in a surgical wound.
