Hagemann TL, et al. - The clinicians performed this study to examine whether suppressing glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) with antisense oligonucleotides could provide a therapeutic strategy for treating Alexander disease. They showed the efficacy of antisense suppression for an astrocyte target. These outcomes provided a compelling therapeutic approach for Alexander disease.
