Antimicrobial activity of ceftazidime-avibactam against contemporary pathogens from urinary tract infections and intra-abdominal infections collected from US children during the 2016–2019 INFORM surveillance program
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal Jan 07, 2021
Lin LY, et al. - The present study was performed to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of ceftazidime-avibactam against contemporary pathogens from urinary tract infections and intra-abdominal infections collected from us children during the 2016–2019 inform surveillance program. Between 2016 and 2019, they obtained bacterial isolates from children with a urinary tract infection (UTI) or intra-abdominal infection (IAI) at 70 US medical centers. Via broth microdilution methods, the antimicrobial activity of ceftazidime-avibactam (CAZ-AVI), and comparator agents was investigated. Between 2016 and 2019, contemporary UTI and IAI pathogens collected from US children showed similar prevalence and susceptibilities as isolates collected from adult patients. According to the findings, CAZ-AVI showed potent activity against these pathogens.
