Antimicrobial activity of cefoperazone-sulbactam tested against gram-negative organisms from Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Nov 13, 2019
Sader HS, et al. - Researchers examined the antimicrobial activities of cefoperazone-sulbactam vs comparator agents tested against 19,545 Gram-negative isolates collected from medical centers located worldwide. Outcomes revealed susceptibility of 82.0%-94.4% of Enterobacterales (91.5% overall) to cefoperazone-sulbactam at ≤ 16 mg/L and of 59.5%-%84.6% of P. aeruginosa (77.8% overall) to cefoperazone-sulbactam at ≤ 16 mg/L. The analysis revealed wide variability in susceptibility rates among geographic regions; these were generally lowest in eastern Europe and the Mediterranean region. At published breakpoints, cefoperazone-sulbactam remains among the most active compounds in vitro when the potency and activity spectrum were considered.
