Anticipated pain as a predictor of discomfort with intrauterine device placement
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Oct 28, 2017
Dina B, et al. - This analysis was performed to assess the association between anticipated pain with intrauterine devices (IUDs) placement and experienced pain. In addition, researchers investigated other factors associated with increased discomfort during IUD placement. Researchers identified a correlation of high levels of anticipated pain with high levels of experienced pain during IUD placement. Greater discomfort during placement was also evident with nulliparity and a history of dysmenorrhea. Findings seemed to have implication for guiding and treating patients as they consider IUD placement.
