Antibiotic prophylaxis prescribing patterns of pediatric urologists for children with vesicoureteral reflux and other congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract
Urology Nov 28, 2019
Hamdy RF, et al. - In this Web-based survey of pediatric urologists about their practice of antibiotic prophylaxis in infants with congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT), experts ascertained pediatric urologists’ antibiotic prophylaxis prescribing practices for infants with vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) and other CAKUT. A total of 73 responses were recorded. For children with CAKUT, significant variability in antibiotic prescribing patterns was discovered. Provided the lack of guidelines encompassing the use of prophylaxis in the preponderance of these conditions, standardization of care may be guaranteed to reduce this variability.
