The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal Nov 20, 2020
Costenaro P, Cantarutti A, Barbieri E, et al. - This study was intended to present the antibiotic prescriptions for Italian children with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), at the primary care level. Researchers performed a retrospective cohort study among children 3 months–14 years of age with CAP, enrolled in Pedianet from January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2018. They examined 7260 episodes from 6409 children followed by 147 pediatricians among 9691 CAP. For Italian children with CAP, the findings report a very limited prescription of narrow-spectrum antibiotics.
