Anti-transglutaminase 6 antibody development in children with celiac disease correlates with duration of gluten exposure
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Jan 06, 2018
De Leo L, et al. - Herein, the authors evaluated the correlation between transglutaminase 6 (anti-TG6) and the presence of neurological disorders. A greater prevalence of anti-TG6 was reported in children with an untreated celiac disease (CD) in the absence of overt neurological disorders. The findings shed light on the connection between the synthesis of anti-TG6 with a longer exposure to gluten before the CD diagnosis. Moreover, the autoimmunity against TG6 appeared to be gluten dependent and disappeared during the gluten-free diet (GFD).
