Anti-interleukin (IL)-5 as a steroid-sparing agent in chronic eosinophilic pneumonia
Journal of Asthma Jan 08, 2020
Sarkis E, et al. - Researchers describe the successful treatment of steroid-dependent relapsing chronic eosinophilic pneumonia (CEP) with anti-interleukin (IL)-5 antibody in a 42-year-old woman patient, given relapses are common after corticosteroid tapering in CEP. They found that as a result of treatment with anti-IL-5 antibody, achieving remission as well as tapering off the steroids were possible, and there occurred no recurrence of the disease for 6 months. So, experts concluded that anti-IL-5 treatment could potentially be used to achieve remission in patients with CEP with recurrent relapses.
