Musculoskeletal Care Jun 20, 2021
Kelly K, et al. - Researchers herein examined how living with chronic pain as a result of ankylosing spondylitis or undifferentiated spondyloarthritis affects the psychological well-being. Response to an online survey was obtained from a total of 161 individuals who had a clinical diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis or undifferentiated spondyloarthritis. Per findings, extremely severe levels of psychological distress are experienced by participants, that significantly correlated with their experience with pain. Findings thereby highlight the necessity to address the psychological well-being of individuals who are diagnosed with chronic rheumatic disease along with the support they receive for their physical well-being. In addition, researchers suggest health professionals be mindful of the degree of debilitation linked with these diseases.
