Angiotensin II receptor blockers, steroids and radiotherapy in glioblastoma—A randomised multicentre trial (ASTER trial). An ANOCEF study
European Journal of Cancer Feb 25, 2019
Ursu R, et al. - In patients with newly diagnosed glioblastomas (GBM), researchers evaluated whether the addition of losartan to standard of care (SOC) can reduce steroid requirement during radiotherapy (RT). In addition to SOC with RT and temozolomide (TMZ), patients with histologically confirmed GBM after biopsy or partial surgical resection were randomized between losartan (n=37) or placebo (n=38). According to findings, losartan, although well tolerated, did not reduce steroid requirement in patients with newly diagnosed GBM who were treated with concomitant RT and TMZ.
