Angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention for chronic total coronary occlusion in daily practice (from a large French registry [CARDIO-ARSIF])
The American Journal of Cardiology Jun 19, 2019
Boukantar M, et al. - In order to determine the prevalence and management of chronic total occlusion (CTO) in the contemporary era, researchers analyzed a large unselected population representing the daily activity of cathlabs, in the greater Paris area. They also compared percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) characteristics in patients with and without CTO. Using the CARDIO-ARSIF (Agence Régionale de Santé Ile de France) registry from 2012- 2015, they collected procedures. This study did not include cases with acute coronary syndrome or previous coronary artery bypass grafting. Findings revealed a common prevalence of CTO in patients undergoing scheduled coronary angiography. Patients with CTO more often received invasive management as compared to patients without CTO. There was no link between success rate of PCI in CTO and case volume per center.
