Anesthesia and ventilation options for flex robotic assisted laryngopharyngeal surgery
American Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine and Surgery Nov 21, 2019
Krespi Y, et al. - Chart review of Flex robotic surgery (FLEX) assisted procedures were carried out in order to look for anesthesia and ventilation alternatives for flex robotic-assisted laryngopharyngeal for benign and malignant lesions of the laryngopharynx. Fifty-two patients have had 80 procedures. Findings suggested that tongue base lesions, hypopharynx, larynx, and trachea may be controlled with adequate exposure with limited endotracheal tube obstruction. Robotic HD camera allows both surgeon and anesthesiologist to monitor surgery and the airway safely. For selecting the ideal ventilation method for different procedures, an algorithm has been created. The FLEX and the use of jet ventilation allow two instruments to be flexible without obstruction.
