Androgen receptor expression is a favorable prognostic factor in triple-negative breast cancers
Human Pathology Jun 21, 2018
Zuo T, et al. - Researchers ascertained if basal-like triple negative breast cancers (TNBCs) have a different rate of androgen receptor (AR) positivity or whether AR expression was predictive of disease free survival in this patient group. Using tissue microarrays (TMAs), 185 TNBCs for AR and CK5/6 was examined. No significant difference in pathologic stage, tumor size, histologic grade and type, or lymph node stage after stratifying by AR and CK5/6 positivity was found. It was concluded that AR-positivity was a favorable prognostic factor for triple negative breast cancers.
