Anatomic and angiographic analyses of ophthalmic artery collaterals in Moyamoya disease
American Journal of Neuroradiology Jun 16, 2018
Robert T, et al. - Researchers described the anatomy of collaterals developed between the ophthalmic artery and the anterior cerebral artery in a Moyamoya population. From 2004 to 2016, all patients treated for Moyamoya disease in 4 neurosurgical centers with available cerebral digital subtraction angiography were involved. In Moyamoya disease, collaterals from the ophthalmic artery were frequent and their development depends on the perfusion needs of the anterior cerebral artery territories. Findings suggested that three other systems of compensation could be present (callosal circle, leptomeningeal anastomosis, and duro-pial anastomoses).
