Analysis of trends in race and gender disparities in incidence-based mortality in patients diagnosed with soft tissue sarcomas from 2000 to 2016
International Journal of General Medicine Jul 29, 2021
Patel SJ, et al. - Using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database, researchers here assessed the rates of incidence-based mortality from the years 2000 to 2016 amongst the grades, genders and racial groups of patients suffering from soft tissue sarcomas (STS). Findings revealed that Caucasian males, relative to African American males, showed a higher rate of incidence-based mortality in the past 15 years despite a lower incidence documented in the 1995 to 2008 period. With no significant alteration in mortality rates/year observed during this time span, findings of this study imply that STS in Caucasian males have worse outcomes.
