Analysis of risk factors associated with unilateral hearing loss in children who initially passed newborn hearing screening
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Feb 01, 2018
Appelbaum EN, et al. - The researchers, herein, inspected the 2007 Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (JCIH) risk factors in children with confirmed unilateral hearing loss (UHL) who initially passed newborn hearing screening. They found that neonatal indicators and craniofacial anomalies were frequently detected in children with confirmed unilateral hearing loss who passed their newborn hearing screening initially. Data indicated that neonatal indicators served as the most common associated risk factor in all hearing loss. Yet, craniofacial abnormalities appeared to be considerably more common in children with UHL who initially passed newborn hearing screening.
