Analysis of predictive factors for treatment resistance and disease relapse in Takayasu’s arteritis
Clinical Rheumatology Apr 27, 2018
Sun Y, et al. - Authors probed the long-term treatment impacts and predictive factors for treatment response and disease relapse for Takayasu’s arteritis (TA). Findings suggested that a high risk of treatment resistance was carried by the patients with high CRP levels. Treatment with cyclophosphamide and hydroxychloroquine was seen to protect against disease relapse in patients aged > 40 years with an incipient disease. Compared with disease relapse (DR) cases, incipient disease was more common in clinical remission (CR) patients. High CRP levels and aortic arch involvement were more common in treatment-resistant (TR) patients than CR cases. A higher risk for treatment resistance was seen in the patients with high CRP levels.
