Head & Neck Feb 01, 2020
Sullivan CB, et al. - Using the National Cancer Data Base, which is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and American College of Surgeons, researchers analyzed the demographic and socioeconomic factors of patients at a national level who refuse recommended treatment for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the head and neck. The sample consisted of 166,204 individuals, of which 689 patients declined all treatment. According to this retrospective cohort study, female patients and individuals without insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid may be more likely to decline head and neck SCC recommended treatment. Educational status is not indicative of treatment decline.
