Broman M, et al. - Whether magnesium deviations correlate with higher 180 day overall mortality or increased morbidity, compared to controls, was investigated retrospectively. It was shown that throughout the ICU stay, patients with magnesium deviations vs patients with explicitly normal magnesium values were more ill. In addition, the magnesium deviation itself might have an influence on mortality, as suggested in Cox analysis.
